Clear and Traditional Braces

Dr. Grimshaw has years of experience and training at offering traditional and clear braces for adults, teenagers, and children. She will first examine the face, teeth and airways. Based on the results as well as the age of the patient, Dr. Grimshaw will determine whether clear or traditional braces are the best option.

Traditional braces are sometimes the best option, particularly when there is severe misalignment of the teeth or jaw. Luckily, there are options for wire braces are more comfortable than in the past. Dr. Grimshaw offers mini-twin brackets. These braces are 30 percent smaller than traditional wire braces, making them more comfortable to wear and aesthetic.

Dr. Grimshaw also provides self-ligating braces. These braces have special clips that join the braces together. With self-ligating braces there is no need for rubber bands, which makes them more comfortable than wire braces. They also require fewer visits to the dentist.

Dr. Grimshaw has years of experience in orthodontics so no matter what the orthodontic issue is, she is excellent at helping find the best treatment so that you or your child can achieve a beautiful and functional smile.

Early Preventive Orthodontics Treatment

Problems with tooth or bite alignment are easiest to correct while the jaw and teeth are still developing. Preventive treatment can help catch orthodontic problems before they become more serious. She will evaluate your child’s airways and check the growth development of the lower and upper jaws to ensure that the face will grow properly while the teeth are being straightened.

Some conditions Dr. Grimshaw can treat are difficulties with biting, chewing, or swallowing. She is highly experienced at addressing misaligned, protruding or crowded teeth as well as speech impediments in children.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) condition that Dr. Grimshaw can treat. Not limited to adults, OSA causes a child to stop breathing for a longer-than-normal period while sleeping. OSA prevents your child from getting full and healthy sleep. It deprives the brain of oxygen and puts stress on the heart and other vital organs.

Dr. Grimshaw has extensive training and experience with these orthodontic problems. Early treatment can either eliminate the need for future treatment or make treatment easier and faster in the future.
