At Kuhn Dental Associates, we believe in utilizing the best dental technology available to help diagnose and treat our patients. Dr. Grimshaw and Dr. Kuhn stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry through continuing education. They invest in the latest technology if they think it will benefit patients.
Our wide range of state-of-the-art dental technology allows us to diagnose sooner and perform treatments more precisely, faster and more pain-free. Discover the different technology at our Aberdeen dental office and how it will enhance your patient experience.
3D Cone Beam Scanner
The cone beam 3D CT scanner allows us to view detailed images of your entire mouth at different angles. It shows relationships between bones, teeth, airways, nerves and tissues. Our doctors use this technology when planning for dental implants.
Diode Laser
Laser dentistry makes dental procedures more comfortable for the patient. The laser makes procedures go faster, reduces the amount of bleeding, causes less swelling, speeds up healing times, and does not cause any lasting discomfort after the procedure is completed.
Digital X-rays
Digital X-rays use 80% less radiation than conventional film X-rays. They also produce images much faster, and allow our doctors to examine fine details such as early forming cavities during your preventative dental exams. Digital X-rays can be displayed on a computer monitor in seconds, allowing our doctors to quickly show patients any problematic areas.
Panoramic X-rays
Panoramic X-rays capture a detailed panoramic view of your mouth, teeth, upper and lower jaws, sinuses, gums and surrounding tissues. Our doctors use these X-rays to diagnose and plan dental treatments for braces, dentures, extractions and implants.
Anutra Local Anesthetic Delivery System
By using Anutra, we are able to provide virtually painless anesthesia delivery, making injections very comfortable for our patients.
CEREC One-Visit Dentistry
Our doctors use the leading-edge CEREC system to fabricate crowns, onlays and inlays in a single visit. Your restoration is designed using 3D imaging software, and then milled out of a single block of porcelain for strength and durability. This technology allows us to provide you with a high-quality restoration in a just one visit.
Digital Scanner
Primescan is the most advanced intraoral digital scanner on the market. It provides a level of accuracy never before seen in dentistry. The advanced technology allows us to scan steep angles, hard-to-access areas and shiny materials. At the peak of innovation, it is widening the gap between those with and without digital dentistry.
Ultrasonic Scaler
Ultrasonic scalers painlessly remove harmful bacteria, hardened plaque and tartar from below the gum line. An important tool in the prevention and treatment of gum disease, the ultrasonic scaler is able to get deep into gum pockets, effectively removing tartar and bacteria with small, quick vibrations and water flow.
K7 ESG Electrosonograph
When conducting an exam for jaw joint disorders, Dr. Grimshaw uses a computerized evaluation system that analyzes and measures the function of your jaw joints. It tracks the position of your jaw at rest and in motion, as well as interpreting jaw clicking sounds and muscle activity.
TENS Electrical Stimulation
We use a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) unit to alleviate tension and pain in the muscles of the jaw. Electrodes are strategically placed around the head and a low-level current gently stimulates nerve pathways and produces a massaging sensation.
VizLite® Oral Cancer Screening
Although oral cancer is rare, we like to ensure your oral health by screening with an amazing new technology called VizLite. We screen for oral cancer during each routine examination. The diagnostic process is quick and painless and it detects, identifies and marks any tissue abnormalities.
Electric Handpieces
Our doctors use electric handpieces to make routine dental procedures a quieter and more relaxing experience. In comparison to traditional drills, electric handpieces are faster and more efficient, which results in shortened procedure times.
Zoom Teeth Whitening
We use Zoom professional, in-house teeth whitening to safely and effectively brighten your smile up to eight shades in under an hour. We also offer Zoom customized trays that you can use the whiten your smile in the comfort of your home.
Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras are used to show patients a detailed view of the inside of their mouth. These small, handheld cameras send digital images to a computer screen for fast and convenient viewing. Our doctors will regularly use the intraoral camera during an oral exam to help identify any problem areas. It can also be a helpful tool for treatment planning and patient education.
Digital Photography
We take digital photographs of your smile to use as a reference when planning cosmetic procedures or full-mouth reconstructions. These images help us evaluate your facial structure and dimensions at various angles so that we can determine the best method for rejuvenating your smile.
DNA Bacterial Testing
When treating stubborn gum disease, we often use a simple DNA test to determine the exact strain of bacteria present in your mouth. This provides us with the information necessary to prescribe an antibiotic that will combat the bacteria most effectively. DNA testing is also useful when patients are resistant to certain antibiotics.
nSequence
nSequence is an approach to implant dentistry that lets us do more virtual planning of your procedure. We can design restorations and surgical guides so you spend less time in the chair and get more accurate results.
NuCalm
NuCalm is relaxation dentistry without drugs. Instead of using drugs to calm anxious patients, we use advanced neuroscience to disarm your body’s stress response. You enter a calm, restorative, meditative state like being at the edge of sleep.
The Wand Single Tooth Anesthesia
The Wand is a needle-free, computer-controlled anesthesia system that lets us precisely target the tooth we are treating. You won’t end up with a numb face, and we can treat teeth on opposite sides of the mouth at the same time.
TekScan
TekScan is a revolutionary system that provides digital occlusal measurement, allowing dentists to obtain an in-depth, accurate view of the level and timing of force of a patient’s individual teeth and overall bite. The combination of this system’s software and sensor technology, as well as the ability to accurately access a patient’s bite, means more accurate, successful treatment and less time spent in the dentist’s chair.
