Sleep Apnea – Exercise Capacity
Obstructive Sleep Apnea is associated with impaired exercise capacity. This is also an indication of increased cardiovascular risk. Results from a new study shows predicted peak oxygen uptake was significantly lower in people with moderate to severe sleep apnea. This new study compared people with and without Sleep Apnea and it showed that people with this disorder may not be capable of burning high levels of oxygen during strenuous exercise.
Sleep Apnea is linked to a higher risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke and irregular heartbeat.
