Dr. Grimshaw has been working with veneers for many years. In fact, she says it’s one of her favorite procedures because she loves seeing how happy her patients are with their new smile!

Dr. Grimshaw has taken many post-graduate courses on aesthetics and cosmetics at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. She is committed to honing her skills through advanced education so that she can provide high-quality dental care.

Long-Lasting, Quality Porcelain Veneers

Our practice has worked with the same top-notch dental lab for over 30 years. We know that we can rely on their lab technicians to do beautiful work that looks natural and endures the test of time. Dr. Grimshaw chooses e-max porcelain for its durability, lifelike characteristics and natural-looking translucency. This material looks like natural enamel, but it’s more than twice as strong!

Comprehensive diagnostics from our Aberdeen dentists help plan your new smile.

Our Approach to Revitalizing Your Smile

Comprehensive diagnostics assist in planning your new smile.

Dr. Grimshaw begins the process of rejuvenating your smile by discussing your expectations and goals. She answers all your questions and clearly explains options for treatment. Dr. Grimshaw plans thoroughly in advance using the diagnostic procedures listed below.

Comprehensive oral exam. A healthy mouth is vital to the success of any cosmetic dental procedure. Dr. Grimshaw will conduct a thorough examination to check for signs of gum disease and tooth decay, and check bite alignment.

Low-radiation digital X-rays. Detailed digital X-rays show us the condition of your teeth, gums and jawbone.

A wax-up model is used to get the design of your new smile just right.

Smile design. To ensure that your smile is properly proportioned, Dr. Grimshaw will analyze and evaluate your existing smile. High-quality digital photographs will be taken and SNAP digital imaging software is used to give you a preview of your proposed new smile.

Study model and wax-up. Using impressions of your teeth, we create three-dimensional models of your mouth to plan treatment, and to show you how your teeth will look after placing veneers.

Preparation and Temporary Porcelain Veneers

Although there are situations where minimal or no preparation is required prior to placing veneers, this is not usually the case. Most cases require some shaving of the surface of your teeth so that your veneers can be strongly bonded to them without any added bulk.

We use a local anesthesia to keep you comfortable during this stage. With advanced anesthesia like Anutra and the needle-free Wand, anesthesia is more comfortable than you’re used to. After your teeth are prepped, Dr. Grimshaw will place natural-looking temporary veneers while your final restorations are being fabricated. You’ll wear your temporaries for three weeks, and during that time we can tweak the dimensions to perfection.

In other situations, Dr. Grimshaw can prepare your new veneers with our CEREC system, and you can get them right away without having to wait for the lab.

Your Final Porcelain Veneers

Once our top-notch lab has finished painstakingly fabricating your porcelain veneers, Dr. Grimshaw will cement them to your teeth. Any final adjustments will be made, and you now have a stunning smile!
